Long Bay Backyard Transformation

Mark and Molly got in touch with us not long after they bought their new home in Long Bay. They had a simple but meaningful goal to turn their sloped backyard into a flat, open space where their kids could play safely. It was a big job, but one we were excited to take on.

To make their vision a reality, we needed to do some serious groundwork. We started by building two 50 metre retaining walls, each standing 1.5 metres high. That allowed us to level the entire backyard. With our excavators on site, we drilled two metre deep holes for the retaining poles, then installed the lagging and over 200 metres of nova coil drainage, finished with a layer of scoria backfill for proper water flow. Once the retaining work was complete, we added a 60 metre balustrade fence along the lower wall to keep the area safe and fully compliant. From the deck, we built a solid set of timber sleepers leading down to the yard, backfilled with concrete for strength. At the bottom, we created a dedicated seating area with a clean, smooth concrete pad. The final step was laying down 240 square metres of fresh grass, turning the once uneven ground into a lush, usable lawn. Mark and Molly were thrilled with the result. What was once a steep and tricky space is now a safe, open backyard the whole family can enjoy.
